As you probably know stress can be harmful to your health. We all experience stress to one level or another. The problems show up when we don't do anything to reduce it. Chronic stress has been shown to cause all kinds of negative health conditions such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, back pain, neck pain, headaches, mood issues, upset stomach and a compromised immune system. We need to make sure we do things to reduce or stop the stress before it becomes a problem. At Tannenbaum Chiropractic in Ann Arbor we recommend some of the following ways to reduce stress.
-When feeling stressed try the following:
-Close your eyes and visualize/mentally bring yourself to a serene comfortable and happy place.
-Tell yourself to relax, i.e. mentally relax.
-Take some deep breaths to calm yourself.
-Spend time doing activities your enjoy.
-Exercise. Keep yourself fit.
-Make a place/space that is quite and peaceful. Spend time there to decompress and allowing to mentally relax and sort things out.
-Possibly try yoga.
-Possibly get some training in meditation or other forms of relaxation.
At Tannenbaum Chiropractic we know how important it is to avoid stress so we make sure we talk to our patients about minimizing stress in their lives.
