From the office of Ann Arbor Chiropractor Michael Tannenbaum, D.C.
As more parents of newborns understand the importance of spinal health in their newborns more and more of these parents are taking their newborn to a chiropractor to have the child checked for proper spinal bone alignment. These parents understand that the birth process can be traumatic and in many cases cause the newborn to have spinal misalignment that can cause immediate or long term health issues. The parents know that there is a direct correlation between spinal bone misalignment and poor health (studies on this can be found from a variety of sources). Many parents also understand regular chiropractic care through the child's childhood is also important for the child's health. As the child grows the activities it participates in can negatively impact the child's spine (alignment) such as when the child is learning to hold it's head up, learning to walk, and learning to ride a bicycle. Also, sometimes parents will take their child to a chiropractor for a specific condition such as asthma, middle ear infections or complaints of back pain, neck pain or headaches. I recommend that, for the health of your child, and just to have the health of your child's spine checked that you take your child to a chiropractor.
