From The Desk Of Ann Arbor Chiropractor, Mike Tannenbaum, D.C.

You have two shoulder blades. Each shoulder blade is located lateral to your spine in your upper and mid back area and are officially named Scapula. A Scapula is a flat bone. The right Scapula connects your right collarbone and and your right Humerus bone (upper arm bone) and your left Scapula connects your left collarbone and your left Humerus bone. The Scapula allows you to move your upper arm and upper back in a wide variety of positions.

Misalignment of the scapula can cause pain in the upper back, mid back and neck, but generally pain resulting from a misaligned scapula is near some part of the outer edge or underneath the scapula.

There are tests that I can perform to better understand how to treat the scapula related pain. There are a number different things that I can do to help reduce scapula pain, but the main treatment is to adjust the Scapula, making sure it is aligned properly and moving smoothly. Aligning the scapula is fairly simple non invasive (of course without the use of surgery or drugs) procedure and generally is very effective in getting rid of the scapula related pain. I
